How to make cart update when adding items from search results?

If I have a Product Search result portlet and a cart or mini-cart portlet on the same page, when I click on Add to Cart on the search result item, the cart and mini-cart does not update.

How can I make the Minicart or Cart update when I update quantities and add items to the cart from the Search Result portlet?
